About This Project

A century of athletic greatness — preserved for every generation that wore the orange and black.

It’s time to bring the Sistersville Tigers back to life. More than three decades after Sistersville High School closed in 1993, new generations are growing up without knowledge of the remarkable athletic tradition this small school along the Ohio River truly had. And what a tradition it was.

A high school of fewer than 300 students produced the best high school football record in the nation for much of the 1980s, NFL and PGA Tour players, a pioneer women’s pro basketball player, and coaches who went on to win a college football national championship and the NCAA basketball title.

So let’s take a deep dive into the athletic history of Sistersville High, its dedicated coaches and determined athletes, its many championships and record holders. There are season-by-season results in football and basketball, profiles of great Tiger teams and players of all decades and loads of statistical nuggets for you to enjoy!
